Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills, stains) in one session without the need to change devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, full dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and vacuums well too. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The autonomous vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For example, you can opt for the robot to clean up the living and kitchen but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb, with the robot being able to detect tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only issue it has is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at full speed. A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs are required like emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you view all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot mop and vacuum, is the newest version. In contrast to the model of last year this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power which allows it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

The Roborock model, like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek, angular design is striking, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties, and the bin is auto-filling.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for washing manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot vacuum with mop touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app is where you can manage and set up these features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. You'll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is user-friendly and simple to use, and the X40's smart features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, alter modes, view floor plans and robots that vacuum and Mop maps, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features, making it an ideal choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin, and clean the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also tell when the mop pad is filled and notify you when it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. However, it has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents the growth of odours and mould in storage, and it also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen on other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There's an impressive amount of settings available that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a variety of preferences. The app allows you to set these preferences or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a variety of options for customizing the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on market, sporting metallic and white colors that is elegant and stylish. It's a bit heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list, at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. They can even reach down to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice feature.
