Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank, robots that vacuum and mop and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For example, you can choose to have the robot vacuum best clean up the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only issue it has is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app tells you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance jobs need to be done, such as emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank by itself by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum mop cleaner robot have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand, though we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may miss.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It can then change its course automatically and clean them without stumbling.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek, angular design is striking, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles up as a child-lock, and a home-button to take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot cleaner with mop crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number clever features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mowing capabilities. Its intelligent design allows for customized and efficient cleaning while also saving time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best automatic vacuum alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop that is excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the need for pads. In addition, the X40 is very quiet during it's operation, producing only occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

The X40 also has a side brush that can be extended and lifted. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture that is curved such as table and chair legs. It also lets the robot to get under furniture that is low-profile making it an ideal choice for small apartments and condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that enables the X40 to prevent damage to floors from the frequent back-and-forth movement.

In contrast to other robots that are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and skip carpeted areas or reverse the process. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is user-friendly and easy to use and the X40's clever features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, Robots That Vacuum and Mop view mapping and floor plans and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many convenient features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect if the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive models available however, it comes with many additional features that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and smaller dirt particles in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is an excellent feature as it stops the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. It's a system that has yet to be seen on other robot vacuum and mop models, and it could be a great way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There are a lot of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. These can be set via the app or there are direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and offers a variety of options for customising your cleaning routine. It also has several functions that are not available on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen in the market, sporting metallic and white design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list however it's not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
