Many people are enthralled by the fact that Alex was able to learn so much however, some scientists have argued that it is unfair to compare Alex with humans in terms of intelligence. They pointed out that while Alex could communicate, he was not able to use logical phrases like "if x then y."

What was Alex's personality like?

Alex was an infamous gang member who enjoyed committing brutal acts of violence. He was a likeable character despite his violent tendencies, and seemed to relish the power he had over his fellow hoodlums. He was a narcissist to two things in his life: violence and classical music, especially Beethoven who's music always brought up images of blood and depravity for him. The gang would drink milk that was laced with drugs in order to prepare themselves for "ultraviolence."

He also demonstrated an ability to recognize analogies and recognize the written word form - although he didn't seem to connect them with their spoken counterparts.

Parrots are the majority of birds that learn to speak, but they don't understand their meaning. To teach Alex, Pepperberg and her assistants would enact scenarios involving the object they wanted him to know about. This method is known as the rival model and it has since become an established method of teaching animals.

In addition to his cognitive abilities, Alex was a friendly, playful companion who loved to interact with his owners. He was often an adviser and cheerleader during training sessions, encouraging or encouraging them to do better. He was also very attentive and was able to recognize the emotions of his human companions. He would often jump into his owner's arms when she was happy, and was a clinging to her leg when she was sad or upset.

What was Alex's influence like?

He could also communicate with other animals via signs and had a solid understanding of grammar. He utilized a method of teaching called "rival model" which involved two trainers showing the bird what they were trying to teach it. The trainers changed positions often so that the bird could be in a position to interact with them both and receive praise and attention from each.

After the success of Free Solo, Alex was named a National Hero by President Barack Obama in 2014. Alex was able to accomplish many things throughout his life due to his strength of character and determination to live life to the fullest.
