Fortunately, in 2022 the new owner of Miami Seaquarium pledged to work with an organization of Lolita advocates called Friends of Toki and the Lummi tribe, who consider her to be a family member, on a plan to eventually move her to the open water. The plan included a facility on the west coast of Washington where she could spend the rest of her days and receive human care and be monitored by scientists.
