The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for best robot hoover long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish autonomous vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for Best Robot Hoover real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot vacuum best which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
