Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go and without the need to switch devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual gets you running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and vacuums well too. Its mops spin at high speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly application that lets you select the exact kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.

For instance, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only issue it has is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs the maintenance tasks that are required like emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank with a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. The app is simple to use and intuitive, allowing you to view every aspect of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop. Unlike last year's model this one has an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that enables it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaner and mop cleaners could miss.

The Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its path and clean around them without missing a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot vacuum with mop back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for washing manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot cleaner touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its innovative design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first one to provide 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum can clean up dry debris, including pet hair and dust. It comes with a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the need for a pad. In addition the X40 is extremely quiet during operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another standout feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush, that allows it to reach difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chairs' legs. The robot vacuums best is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it an ideal choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Unlike other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, and vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and intuitive, and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, change modes, view floor plans and maps, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to clean and has numerous convenient features, making it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It can also detect if the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available and comes with numerous extra features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop mops are cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is beneficial because it stops mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system has yet to be seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and could be a useful way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy either, and it feels robust and well built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice addition.
