The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
