Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, Best Robot Hoover it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner reviews makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
