They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.
