Robot vacuums and mops are getting more efficient. They pass our tests on cleaning and are able to handle various flooring. Look for models that allow you to choose between several modes, utilize their charging docks to automatically empty, and clean up the stairs.

A lot of the top models integrate with your smartphone. Look for an app that lets you save maps, schedules and select cleaning options.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The gloss black and gunmetal Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive robot vacuums and mop combos available. The S1 was capable of mapping my downstairs quickly, which comprises linoleum flooring in the kitchen, dining area, and bathrooms and also a medium-pile and a large rug. It easily drove close to walls without colliding with them and even managed to cross thresholds for rooms that are raised without problem, although it sometimes was unable to navigate down the stairs in one move. The S1 did a good job cleaning hard floors. The mop sped along on its flat side and swung up when it reached carpets or rugs.

Prior to each mopping session the docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills the water tank onboard with clean ozonated filtered water. The dock also adds a cleaning solution into the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's water tank can hold enough for about a dozen cleaning sessions before it needs to be emptied, though this will vary depending the amount you use the mop.

The S1 needs periodic maintenance, just like any other 2-in-1 robots. In order to do this, you'll have to rinse out the dirty water tank occasionally to avoid it from clogging. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to keep them from getting clogged by dust or dirt. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

The mops can be cleaned with hot water and dried in the base station when required. The mops can also be replenished at the top of the station as they are required.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

The sweeping capability of the machine is enhanced by a sidebrush which automatically extends to reach hard-to-reach areas, and a mop pad that extends across baseboards.

Its navigation system is intelligent that can navigate narrow spaces and climbing the stairs without a hitch. It is able to move from one room to the next without needing to reverse the direction. This is a great feature for homes that have multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance is less advanced than that of some competitors, and leaves a huge space between obstacles. This could lead to missing spots.

The Q5 is an unadorned version of the company's pricier S-series models, including the flagship Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. It has a similar LIDAR mapping sensor, but it saves cost by eliminating the mopping functionality and by using a lower-cost plastic body.

Even though it's not able to clean your floors, the Q5 still offers the most impressive mopping and vacuum performance we've seen from a robotic at this price. It has a powerful suction of 5500Pa and an automatic-empty system, so you don't have to empty the bin manually every time. It also features a smart app that lets you set your floor's type and schedule cleanings. It also has an best automatic vacuum cleaner refill of the water tank and wash system that allows hands-free operation.

Its mops are also impressive, with a 2700Pa power to tackle dirt and pet hair, on both carpets and hard flooring. The Q5 was one of the few robots we tested to not have issues with high-pile carpets and rugs. However, it could not remove kitty-poop or cable tangles. This isn't a surprise as it doesn't contain AI-powered obstacle avoidance.

5. K10 Plus

K10 Plus is one of the quietest robot vacuums we have tested, it also has a unique method to map your home, which really helps it get into corners and tight spaces that other vacuums cannot reach. The device also collects dust in a larger dustbin which means you have empty it less frequently. It also has washable filters which can further cut costs. The robot can recognize carpets and increase suction if needed. You can also mark areas you want to be able to keep from using the app.
