The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination automatic vacuum cleaner and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum that mops robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
