1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot mop hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic cleaner and mop mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and Best Robot Hoover identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
