The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the menu for items. The item upgrader will be rerolled and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's level or connect it to an account's status.

Armor

Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you get out of each point of health you possess therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as possible.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them, and each requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and completed the fountain in question and then you can contact any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large group of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll have to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.

Trinkets can be upgraded when they are not needed, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing soon (for instance rings or cloaks). When deciding on which items to upgrade players should also be aware of their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.

Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool.
