The item upgrade is an enchantment which increases the base stats of specific weapons or armor. This includes secondary stats such as Leech or Speed.

Leveling

The materials are named after when the item is upgraded, for example Stone Fragments become Stones and Harmony Shards become Life Shards.

Item upgrade is important for improving a character's performance, but it is important to consider the cost of doing so prior to making any changes. The cost of upgrading an item can be a significant amount of gold that could be better used to purchase new equipment. This is why it's best to upgrade the most important items in a given situation.

Set bonuses

Set bonuses are unique effects that can appear on a set of equipment that grants a bonus in battle. They offer a specific percentage of a certain stat, such as weapon damage or defenses or resistances. They don't stack, however; only one of them will be active at any given time.
