These earphones are an important upgrade over the Soundcore Life 2 of late-2018. They appear better and feel more durable and have a more polished finish. The hinges are tighter, and the soft ear cups are a bit larger. They are still largely made of plastic, but they are more polished. You can switch the 3.5mm cord with a high quality USB-C cable and use them with mobile Hi-Res and stationary Hi-Fi players. They also have dual mics built in that worked well in our tests with FaceTime, Skype and Microsoft Teams calls.

The Soundcore app comes with a wide selection of EQ presets that can be altered and saved to listen to music and podcasts in the style you prefer. The Soundcore app is easy to use and makes these headphones stand out.

When ANC is turned on the Q30's 40mm drivers cut out almost all background noise, making for very pleasant listening. They have a natural sound signature that leans a little on the treble end, which some may be unable to reproduce bass (we have had better results using the Bass Booster equalizer). However, you can easily fix this by using the Soundcore app, since there's an eight-band equalizer to allow you to tweak.

The left ear cup has an power button, a pairing button, and USB-C charging port. The right earcup features buttons for play/pause, volume control and volume up/down. Double-clicking these controls lets you to skip tracks or play previous ones. You can also make use of voice commands to instruct them to switch modes or set alarms. You can also cover the right ear cup with your hand to activate ambient modes, so that you can hear everything around you without removing the headphones.

The Q30 headphones offer a long battery life. In our tests with ANC turned on the Q30 ran for almost an hour longer than the other headphones. This lets you enjoy an extended flight or a long day at work. The USB-C cord included in the kit lets you quickly recharge the batteries. You'll also receive a warning when the battery is getting close to empty.

Focal Bathys wireless headphones music

Focal's Bathys Wireless are a set of premium over-ear headphones that provide both active noise cancellation and Bluetooth playback. These headphones are designed to be premium, high-end headphones that can be used at home or while on the move. The headphones are a little higher priced than comparable headphones, but their exceptional sound is what makes them stand out.

The Focal Bathys are packaged in a compact, slim and attractive fabric-finished white retail box that includes everything you'll need in. There's a fold-flat headphone carry case, USB-C to USB-C cable, 1.2mm SE cable and an audio adapter.

The battery's capacity is 600mAh, which can last a whole day of casual listening. They also come with an audio input that you can connect wired. When they're wirelessly connected, they're connected via Bluetooth and you'll be able to manage their functions via an app (now called Focal & Naim which is probably in line with their English sister brand Naim's network-aware audio products) or via the dedicated button located on the left earcup that scrolls between ANC profiles like'soft','silent transparent', and full.

The app lets you adjust various settings, such as the brightness of the LEDs and the EQ presets (including music's profile, that sounds more neutral and brighter than other profiles) and the battery life. It also lets you to choose the ANC mode and its level, and also set an 'acoustic' environment which adjusts the sensitivity of your audio to simulate what it will sound like if it were placed in a room with different audio acoustics.

The Focal Bathys have an incredibly bass-rich sound that delivers extra energy and warmth to your favourite tracks. As a result, vocals and instruments are nudged back in the mix and can sound dull, while other details such as cymbals sound slightly less prominent than you'd expect from other headphones. They're not as efficient in active noise cancellation when contrasted with other headphones that have higher-end technology like the Sony WH-1000XM5 or Apple AirPods Max.

Sony WH-1000XM5

Sony has a stellar reputation for its headphones and the WH-1000XM5 is no exception. It's located at the top end of the mainstream headphones for over-ear, and is slipping into the luxury lifestyle area where the likes of Bang & Olufsen, Apple and Montblanc hang out. The XM5s are expensive, but if you can find them, there's not a better pair of wireless over-ear headphones.

The XM5s have features that help listeners and, in a few instances, automate tasks they'd otherwise have to handle manually. Sony's DSEE Extreme engine (which upscales compressed music to close to high-res) is available and also support for Bluetooth's LDAC technology. This allows streaming of high-quality audio at bitrates higher than conventional Bluetooth. There's even a built-in microphone for making hands-free calls.

As with the previous generation of WH headphones, the XM5s excel at noise cancellation. They're among the best-performing cans to block out the continuous drones that can be heard in train and underground carriages. The XM5s also excel at separating listeners from the noises of busy airports and streets.

The sound quality is very good. The XM5s aren't quite as detailed in the low frequencies as the XM4, but there's a greater sense of clarity and realism as well. For example the bass on Rage Against The Machine's Bullet in the Head flexes the Sonys' muscles with real force and definition without flattening everything else. The XM5s also have the ability to produce precise and precise bass notes on Massive Attack's Angel.

Battery life is excellent with up to 30 hours listening time when ANC is on and 40 hours if off. That's more than enough for rydohi wireless bluetooth headphones a weekend getaway or several days of heavy usage.

The XM5s do not come with dust or water resistant. In fact, Sony recommends that you not sweat on them or wear them in the rain. This might not be a problem for most people however for those who spend long hours in the gym or live in a humid area, it could be a major problem.

Apple AirPods Max

The Apple AirPods Max are a pair of wireless headphones over-ear equipped with bluetooth headphones range technology and noise cancelling. They have 40mm Apple-designed dynamic drivers with a neutral audio profile that is focused on the mids and highs while not going overboard on either ends of the spectrum. They are great for music and movies. They also provide better sound quality than many other headphones.

The headphones have a lightweight build that feels comfortable on the head. The ear cups are constructed out of memory foam that is covered in weaved fabric. They are comfortable to wear without placing pressure on the sides of the face. Ear cups can be rotated and tilted to accommodate different head shapes. The spring-loaded hinges offer a firm, but not too strong clamping force to ensure that the ear cups stay in place throughout listening sessions.

A small button on the the right ear cup allows you to switch between noise cancelling modes. You can also utilize an earphone-style jog dial with a push button like the digital Crown on the Apple Watch. You can turn it to control the volume and press it one three, twice, or even three times for playback controls. Siri can be activated by pressing and pressing the button. These buttons are placed well and simple to use, however I missed having an option to turn off the headphones when they are not in use. The headphones go into standby when they are removed from your ears or if they are placed in their case. They come back into use when you place them on your head.

Another feature that is quite cool is spatial audio, which uses the accelerometers and gyroscopes in the AirPods Max and your iPhone or iPad to figure out where you're moving, then repositions the sound to make it seem like they're coming from those places. This creates an immersive theater experience for videos and movies recorded in 5.1, 7.1 or Dolby Atmos. Only iOS devices are able to listen to spatial audio.

The AirPods Max are a decent pair of headphones, rydohi Wireless bluetooth headphones but I'd be somewhat smug going into an Apple Store and spending $549 on the headphones if I knew that they'd be outdone next year by the second-generation model. The AirPods Pro have more advanced features and improved battery performance, making it difficult to justify the additional cost for the majority of people.
