1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is low it will return to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum cleaner industrial vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot best home vacuum cleaner to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or by voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households, but it also fits nicely on a coffee table or on the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large dust and Top rated robot vacuum crumbs. The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's enough time to vacuum the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up all kinds of debris in our testing, and it often goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top rated robot vacuum picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot cleaner commercial vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications, docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
