However, it's not exactly the most agile robot on the market. As with many others, it's not a good climber and has trouble with things like metal threshold transition strips.

One thing we love about the 980 is that it uses its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It then uses that information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than many high-end robotics.

The 980's other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate between furniture and around edges, and Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down stairs. It also automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharges between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as good as those of other robot vacuums. However, it's a solid and reliable machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
