Prison bosses have increased orders for extra-large clothing to battle an obesity crisis among inmates.
Last year, prison chiefs asked for 27,400 pairs of XL-sized joggers for overweight prisoners — and three pairs had a 72 inch waste.
A further 2,540 pairs of extra-large kitchen trousers were also manufactured for inmates working inside prison canteens.
The Ministry of Justice also revealed 21 pairs of '5XL' boxer shorts - to fit waists of up to 58in - were also ordered.
Serving prisoners manufacture the clothing which means there is no further cost to the taxpayer.
However, the NHS has to provide health experts to advise obese inmates.
In Keighley, West Yorkshire, Airedale NHS Trust provides dietitians who offer weight-loss tips to prisoners over video link at 20 jails.
