The Space Key is made of carbon composite materials that Lamborghini, in the course of a research project in the year 2019 sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was created into a distinctive artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical element is equipped with an NFT serial code that links to the digital image via QR code printed on the back.

For those not in the know, NFTs are unique identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger and tied to an digital asset such as a photograph, video, music or other record. This enables owners to guarantee the authenticity, scarcity, and the traceability of their tokens on the internet.

The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will go on auction within a few weeks. Its base is made of advanced carbon fibre composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part a research project. The carbon fiber was 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital design using the QR code that is on the back of the petron Key to lamborghini (thewrightbeef.com). Only five Space Keys were produced.

Space Key consists of five units. They were constructed with a physical part of the carbon fiber composite, which was sent to the ISS in the year 2019. Each Space Key contains a block comprised of the most advanced carbon-fire composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth the space key was imprinted with a QR code, which connects it to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was captured by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera, which took each of the individual shots, that were then merged to create the final image. The result is a photo that is out of this world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there's no precise date or place yet.

The auction
