World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item upgrader mod comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips of items. It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it's able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the item upgrading level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.

Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. As with base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more useful in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
