Stop & Start

If you've been in a BMW or utilized its stop-start feature, you may have noticed the engine continues to run for 30 seconds after you have released the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to monitor the vehicle for a signal that comes from the ignition key. If it detects this, the vehicle will continue to operate. Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a new generation device, does not require you to cut OEM wires or install keys or alarms that are made by an aftermarket company. It is connected to your BMW's CAN data network and programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code that can be accessible via buttons that are installed in your car. This lets you enter a specific key push sequence that isn't present in the standard menus for media, like volume up/down and source, cruise control or air conditioning on, which prevents your car from starting until the sequence is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 numbers, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to determine or crack.

We can also add to the system the service/valet mode. This is activated while your car is being serviced so that the Ghost is away from the garage. This can be achieved by pressing the service button on your infotainment device 5 times (the system will flash to confirm this) and then when you return the Ghost will automatically re-arm.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the most popular immobiliser ghost on the market. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. If you are parked at home or in an event where you meet and greet, when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start your vehicle using your keys in the normal way, but prevents the engine from being started until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for those who need to give their vehicles to valet services, or trusted family members and friends. It also lets you bring the vehicle into the garage for servicing etc without having to worry about it being tampered with or stolen by a mechanic whilst you wait.

Once the service / valet mode is activated it will stop your BMW from being able to be driven when it is first started. This stops anyone from testing while you are away. Once you return it will be back to normal, preventing your vehicle from being damaged or stolen again.

The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you need is the correct keys, since the device doesn't use the original remotes, but can be used with them. Anti-Hijack

Ghost developed this discreet, unobtrusive device to combat the ever-increasing sophistication of high-tech thieves. It is designed to prevent thieves from using a brand new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive it away. ghost vehicle immobiliser connects to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons in your vehicle (steering wheel, centre console and door panels) to create a unique push sequence which needs to be entered before the engine can start.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated, any attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. If the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it fails to identify the correct code it will also stop the engine (where possible). By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without entering the PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is in a parking spot. If you own a smart-phone, you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful if a valet or mechanic has to start your car and you are else. You can also track your vehicle on an interactive map on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be installed on the dashboard or in the centre console. It is completely concealed and secure, and does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is programmed into it. The pin code has to be selected before the vehicle is started. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system by using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen the Ghost will enter service mode and disable all functions until you have the PIN number or use the mobile application to disable it. This is a feature that was designed to protect your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your vehicle. It also prevents thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat nav system or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost can also stop 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most frequent method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob that's been cloned, or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to prevent this from happening by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is installed in the key-fob of your vehicle and shuts off its battery after a couple of inactive minutes. This is possible with the majority of modern PKE keys.
