4. Shark ION LX

I tested the IONXL using our standard debris test in a family space and kitchen with hardwood floors and area rug. It also did a great job at moving around my bar stool and didn't hit them as the iRobot j7+ did in this test. The only issue is that the ION XL can't detect toys, cords or shoes that may be in its path which means you'll have to pre-clean your house before running this robot vacuum to stay clear of these items.

The ION XL robotic cleaner isn't as smart as the iRobot j7+ but it's a good option if you do not need to spend more than $500 on a robot. It's superior to the less expensive RoboVac 11S in most ways, including being easier to maintain and incurring lower recurring costs. It's also better in vacuuming floors that are not clean and removing pet fur, but isn't as good on low- or higher-pile carpet.

It's not as sturdy as the Roborock S8, but it is a great alternative. The ION XL is a powerful machine that has a large capacity bin. It is controlled by an app or a voice command and is easy to maintain. It is also affordable.
