Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top picks such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.

It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation options.
