Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Aesthetics

Design

Bentley has launched a new specification for cars built after 2019 to commemorate its centenary. This is known as the Centenary Specification. The cabin features cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Centenary Specification also includes a customized Bentley keycase, adding to the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key comes with an open button on the trunk, as well as a button that turns on the car. It also has a switch to activate the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight space. This feature helps you get in and out of your car.

Each key takes two days to make. It is hand cut and shaped, then sewn, sealed and polished to provide a high-quality finish. It is lightweight and durable and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design resembles the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, however it feels more heavy and premium.

Secure-A-Key is also included to help stop keyless entry theft. This device is inserted inside the remote-control key fob, and disables it after a few minutes of inactivity. This stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the vehicle.

More than 4,000 employees work at its Crewe headquarters, and are responsible for the design, development and production of Bentley cars. Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division allows customers to create their own car. Customers sit at a set of images referred to as "mood stations" and select a series of photos ranging from picturesque landscapes to sporting events that inspire them. When each selection is made, a pattern will emerge that reveals the models and colors of the custom Bentley.

The guests are given a key case made by hand that contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can be adorned with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the entrance door, and display the owner's logo or name as they approach the car.

Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man-hours to design and put together the typical Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the primary factor to this laborious task. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built in sensors guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spots, drivers have to do it manually.

During the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization options with one particular example - the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars are available in 100. one key that features a slice of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
