Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has designed a distinctive keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of the company. It's made of Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight, keys, and an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

It's the perfect present to welcome a new owner to their luxurious car.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand that takes its aesthetics very seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather derived from cattle by-products and sustainable managed forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you drive by with its striking sculptural appeal and power by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. Its rear tonneau for instance, featured the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, attention to detail and craftsmanship to detail that has established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company continues to push the boundaries by utilizing the most advanced technology and craft, including the introduction of the digital instrument cluster as well as an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof, an artisan-made docking station for Apple iPads, and electrochromic "smart" glass that can be switched from transparent to opaque at the touch of an arrow.

Design

Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. It has two opposing pairs of rear seats that were inspired by the luxury of private aviation and provides passengers with unbeatable comfort and privacy. A customized heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system has been designed to ensure each passenger has the ideal climate control setting.

The Mulsanne comes with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp and 479lb-ft torque. This power is paired with a new suspension system which provides Bentley's renowned smooth ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a specific specification that is known as the Centenary Specification for cars that were built in 2019. The cabin is decorated with cross-stitching as well as contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests, seats and other areas of the car. This makes it more fun to celebrate. A custom Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons one of which opens the trunk, and the second which starts the vehicle. The key also comes with a switch that allows you to turn on the parking brake. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight area. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.

The key is made of vegetable tanned leather and takes over two days to make each one. It is hand cut shape, sewn, sealed, and polished to produce an extremely high-end finish. It is strong, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its style is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a luxurious feel.

Secure-A-Key is also available to prevent keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote control key fob and is turned off after a few minutes of inactivity. This prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that are able to unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design is a reflection of the values of the company that include fine craftsmanship engineering expertise and the latest technologies. Over 4,000 people work at its Crewe headquarters, where they are responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley cars. Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their own vehicle. The "mood station" lets customers pick images that inspire them. They can choose anything from stunning views to sporting events. Each time a selection is made, the pattern that emerges reveals the model colors, style and color preferences for the custom Bentley.

The guests are given a key case made by hand, which contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the door opening with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley claims it takes about 500 man-hours to craft and assemble the average Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the main factor to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, instead of using sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spots.

During the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities by presenting one particular example that was the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to founder William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with the key, which displays the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
