Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It can get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor robot plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.

In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10
