The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of any stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the Best item upgrader's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity or mark level. Additionally, many items can be reforged to increase their stats.

You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others give general bonuses.

The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increase. However you can lower the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a merchant or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia, or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with an upgrade suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any mods.

Glyphs

Glyphs are an effective tool for communicating visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, which makes them more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also increase the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking an experience of familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a range of values that it could improve a stat by in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by and not the amount it actually increases the stat by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the item you are in awe of.

The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of, you will need to salvage it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also add the glyph to your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for those who take a lot of damage from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, such as mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens are also a good way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.

Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they can be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will alter the design of the item's window, and allow up to six items be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than those with lower levels.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits to upgrade units. The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being too expensive and it's more reasonable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. The developers do not plan to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include an ability to change races in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first method of leveling up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading any stat. The alternative is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which can increase the damage or healing of an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.

When you upgrade items, it is important to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In the majority of cases, a better roll is determined by glyphs. Based on the item's base level and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change as well. For example an item upgrader kit that has been upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
