The system uses dual laser LiDAR, which is similar to that used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan up to 32 feet across by the 270-degree angle. This results in more precise mapping and faster response times and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an adjustable mopping pad made of chenille fabric, which makes it easier to scrub hard areas than traditional mops. In my tests, the X2 Omni took just over a minute to wash its pad and begin work, and I noticed that it was much more accurate than previous models that were able to follow a grid-like path around rooms. It was able to navigate around corners and edges of my rooms and also create "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station frequently to empty the dustbin and clean the mop using hot water before beginning another cleaning task.

The X2 Omni is just as easy to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. It takes only a few minutes to snap the dock into its place, plug it into and connect to your home Wi-Fi network. Then, you can launch the app to begin your first cleaning task. I was able dive into the settings and customize my floor plan in about 15 minutes, incorporating restricted areas for sweeping and mopping and reworking my furniture layouts, and much more. The X2 Omni was astonished during my tests, with excellent scores for cleaning pet hair and debris cleaning, as well as close to perfect results in crevice and edge cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

It also features an auto-emptying 3L bag that's easy to replace, and hot air drying for fast and easy maintenance. This is the first model of mopping from Anker which is well-known for its robot vacuums. It is equipped with improved intelligence, multiple map support, LIDAR scanning and twin-turbine technology that adjusts automatically to the surface you are cleaning. It's a tempting mid-range vacuum cleaner, even if it doesn't exactly live up to its promise of being an all-in-one solution for floor cleaning.

The X8 Hybrid appears to be an ordinary robotic cleaner from the top. It is a circular design with sweeping wheels, and a raised sensor area. Flip it over, however, and you'll find a motorised floor brush plus a single side sweeper that pushes dirt from the edges into the main pathway of the robot's 'mouth'. It's a bit smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under couches and chairs.

Its mapping system is fairly sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones, as well as specific cleaning zones. This budget-friendly model from a popular upstart brand is the cheapest robot we've ever tested and provides an outstanding value for cost. Its basic navigation system uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm that isn't equipped with room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into the corners. Its mopping mode was very effective in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at getting rid of pet hair from all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less efficiently and does a decent job on carpets with low pile and uses smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and comes with a range of advanced automation options, including no-go zones and schedules. It allows you to suspend and resume cleaning sessions, making it perfect for homes that have pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent tangles and can hold up to 30 days of dirt. It has a set angled side brushes to reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, dander and allergens.

The robot vacuum feels sturdy and well-built. It has a smartphone app which lets you alter its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning times in advance. The app also lets you see the remaining battery life of the iQ and send push notifications for any problems it encounters during its cleaning process.
