BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or putting in an additional lock to circumvent the security system.

Unlike other immobilisers unlike other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LED indicators or key-fobs. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to allow you enter a unique disarming sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you've previously driven a BMW or utilized its stop-start feature, you might have noticed that the engine continues to run for a period of 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuously monitoring your vehicle for an ignition key, and when this signal is detected, it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or adding aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with a unique PIN code that is accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter the key sequences which aren't available in the normal media menus. For example the volume up/down button, or source, air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 digits, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to determine or break.

We can also add the service/valet mode. This mode is activated when your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is away from the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is a top-of-the-line immobiliser that is designed to protect your vehicle from being taken by key cloning or hacking. When the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive after it has been started. This prevents anyone else from driving it while you're away. After you return, the vehicle will be restored to normal operation and prevent it from being altered or stolen.

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this subtle device that is obtrusive, and unobtrusive to fight the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your vehicle and drive away. Ghost connects to your CAN network and uses buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before the engine can be started.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will sharpen the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. The Anti-Hijack feature can be disabled by entering your push sequence, or by enabling service mode, which allows your car to temporarily start and drive without needing to enter your PIN.

If you have an GPS device connected to your BMW, you can utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is parked. If you own a smartphone, you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is helpful when you are else and a mechanic or valet needs to start your vehicle. The system will allow you to turn your vehicle on by selecting drive and then quit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on an interactive map on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be fitted under the dashboard or within the center console. It is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code must be entered prior to the vehicle's start. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to get around this system.

If the vehicle is being stolen, the Ghost will enter service mode and stop all functions unless you have the PIN number or use the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was developed to protect your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who utilize relay boxes to take it. This will prevent thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-navs or mp3 players to locate your vehicle!

Ghost also stops "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most common method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen using a key fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost can help you prevent this from happening by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is installed inside your vehicle's key-fob and will disconnect the battery after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
