WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the Item Level Upgrade is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item upgrader kit in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they belong to another set of gear.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
