The ANC isn't as effective at removing low-frequency noise as Bose's QuietComfort 45 or QC45 Wireless however it does a good job of tackling mid and high-frequency noise, such as office chatter and plane engine roar.

Wearing Detection is another useful feature that detects when you take off your headphones and then automatically pauses the music. The music will resume once you put them on again. Speak-to-Chat allows you to communicate with a person without having to remove your headphones. It works well however it's not perfect. Sometimes the audio will change back after you've finished talking.

The DSEE-HX Extreme audio processing Engine from Sony is also included. This feature upscales compressed audio to give it greater clarity and more detail. This isn't a feature you'll see in your daily use, but it can be noticeable when listening to high-quality tracks.

These headphones are compatible Bluetooth 5.0 which allows for higher bitrate streaming than other headsets. This will enhance their performance when you play music on your mobile phone, laptop, or tablet. They eliminate low rumble from bus and plane engines, but don't do a great job of eliminating chattering between passengers or other noises in the surrounding. They also have the benefit of supporting aptX Audio, which provides greater maximum bitrates than AAC and SBC used by the Sonys.

The Sennheisers earcups can be rotated to lay flat, but they do not fold like other models. The headphones are compact enough to fit inside their carrying case that is hard which makes them ideal for commutes and travel.

3. Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2

The latest generation of Bowers & Wilkins' flagship wireless headphones is one of the top noise cancelling over-ear headsets available. They compete with Sony's WH1000XM5 or Bose QuietComfort 65. They have high-end build quality, stunning audio performance and comfort. Contrary to other premium Bluetooth headsets, they do not come with a range of extravagant features or touch-based gesture control they are instead designed to provide an audio experience that is as immersive and enjoyable as possible.

The Px7 S2's ANC is very effective in reducing ambient noise, and has a good level of isolation from low-frequency rumbles, such as plane engines and bus engines, mid-range noises like office chatter, as well as the high-pitched whirls of laptop fans. They aren't as well from higher-frequency noise, such as conversations or traffic, but they do a better job than their predecessors. Bowers & Wilkins' app lets you alter your ANC to your hearing.

The headphones have a premium look, with the ear cup and headband. The headphones weigh slightly more than the other top headphones, but their sturdy build and thoughtful design make them feel worth the money. The headphones are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, whether at work, home or traveling for a long time.

Bowers & Wilkins Px7S2's dynamic drivers with 40mm deliver powerful bass, crisp treble and detailed images. They create a lively and full sound, with a distinct air between the sound elements. This makes them an ideal option for music and podcasts. They come with aptX Adaptive codec support, which allows you to stream high-quality audio with low latency.

Unfortunately, they cost almost the same amount as Sony WH1000XM5 or Bowers & Wilkins px7 S2 quite a bit for a pair of on-ear headphones.

The V-Moda S-80 is the first wireless headphone made by the company. They can be worn on your head, or wrapped around your neck as a personal speaker (earcups facing upwards). They are designed to enhance contemporary electronic music with a vibrant sound and are compatible with advanced audio codes like Qualcomm's HD aptX. They also feature interchangeable magnetic shields and customizable color options so you can create distinctive looks to match your attire or promote your business.

While the S-80 are a refreshing departure from the company's M-Series models, they have some flaws that make them less than perfect for anyone. The 12.5 ounces of weight makes them feel heavy, especially when placed on the ears. This puts pressure on the ears, causing ear pain after approximately an hour of use. The headband is also somewhat stiff and can be uncomfortable to wear the headphones around your neck.

Another issue is the S-80's poor noise cancellation. Even at moderate volume levels there is significant background noise. The absence of ANC is not a deal breaker however, you'll want to limit the amount of time you listen for around 20 hours.

The S-80 lacks a 3.5mm connector, which restricts connectivity and could hinder its use for intense physical exercise. They're not foldable and don't come with a case which makes it difficult to transport and store. The S-80's robust design and excellent sound quality offset these limitations.
