Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bentley. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set of keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand that takes its aesthetics very seriously. It is evident in the precise placement of its quilting, the use of leather that is made from products of cattle as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the ingenuous patterns of its levers. The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its extravagant and luxurious cars, but even the keys are designed to make a statement. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver and features the large B' logo to inform everyone that you drive a Bentley. The key is also inscribed with the dates 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centennial.

The Mulsanne is equipped with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that generates 560bhp, and 479lb-ft of torque. This incredible power is complemented by a new suspension design that gives Bentley's signature hushed ride.

Bentley has introduced a special specification for cars made after 2019 to celebrate its centenary. This is known as the Centenary Specification. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. A custom Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key has an open button on the trunk, and another button which starts the car. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors when parking in a tight spot. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your bently Car Key.

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather and takes more than two days to create each one. The key is cut by hand, shaped by hand, stitched, sealed, and then polished to produce a premium result. It is robust, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to that of the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a luxurious feel.

Secure-A-Key is also included to help prevent keyless entry theft. This device is put into the remote-control fob, and it shuts it down when the key has not been used for a short period of time. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the car.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their car. The customers sit at a set of images referred to as "mood stations" and choose a selection of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that will inspire them. As each selection is made, a pattern is created, which reveals the design and color preferences for the personalized Bentley.

The resulting configuration is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards which are handed out to guests in a custom-made key case. The bently keys can be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps, which illuminate the path of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's name or logo as they approach the car.

Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to build and construct a Mulsanne. The inability to adopt modern technology is the main factor to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of employing a machine for spacers to the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their vehicles manually, rather than relying on sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and paralell spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization abilities with a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley.
