The D7 can also be able to move smoothly on both carpet and high-pile carpet.

A second feature is the option to select between two different cleaning intensities. There's an Eco mode that runs the vacuum in a quiet manner and extends the time of run, whereas Turbo mode provides the most powerful cleaning. However, the Turbo mode operates at a high volume, which can be a problem when you're using the D7 while you're working or watching TV.

The D7 is one of the few robots capable of creating and storage of multiple floor plans. This is ideal for multi-level homes. It also has a rapid boost feature, which permits it to return to its base and recharge prior to continuing to clean. This is especially useful when you're cleaning up difficult areas. Neato's app is easy to use and is regularly updated with new features. It is among the cheapest robots that are available for thick carpets and pet hair.

2. Eufy RoboVac ElevenS

Like the Neato D7, the Eufy 11S is sleek and low-profile. This helps it go under couches, beds and coffee tables with greater ease than other robot vacuums can. It also has several innovations that allow it to clean well and where you want it to go, like no-go lines that you could draw on its virtual maps to prevent the robot from cleaning delicate areas such as pet bowls or beds. It also comes with an auto recharge and resume feature, in the event that the battery fails to charge before it has finished cleaning it, it will automatically make its return to its base to recharge and then returns to where it began.

In our tests the RoboVac 11S performed more than its predecessor, the eufy RoboVac 30C. It also was more efficient than the ILIFE A4s and bObsweep Bob Pro, and the ILIFE A4s. Its dirt compartment is larger, it has a longer maximum battery life, and it removes more debris on everything from plain floors to low and high-pile carpet. It is also built better, easier to maintain, incurs fewer recurring costs and moves more effectively.

This vacuum isn't the ideal choice for floors with no carpet. However, it is a great option for those who have medium carpeting and pets. It uses random navigation to find its way through the room and can feel its way around obstacles using sensors that are housed in its front bumper and underbelly. It's not as advanced as other robots' mapping technologies, but it's good enough to access places that other robots are unable to reach. It also comes with several spin brushes for cleaning walls, and an increased 0.6-liter dirt bin. It also comes with an actual control that has an all-black screen, a charging station, four side brushes that can be connected, two extra filters and an instrument for cheapest cleaning.

3. iLife VS3 Professional

If you own pets, you'll require a vacuum that is strong enough to remove pet hair. It sticks to carpets and floors and can make even the most powerful robot vacuum struggle. For reference I test how well robots can collect cat and dog hair by measuring the amount of hair they can remove from the floor in five-foot-by-five-foot space. I also test how well the robot can navigate household terrain. This includes how well it travels over a common threshold, around table legs and furniture, and underneath the couch. The iLife V3s Pro is also capable of mopping. It does a decent job on floors that aren't clean and also picked up faux Christmas tree needles, bits of tinsel, and crumbles of mud in my mopping tests. It's not as great as the top robot mop.

4. Roborock s7

If you are looking for a robot vacuum that has impressive tech capabilities the Roborock s7 is an excellent value. This mid-priced model performs as well as many high-end models and is easy to operate and maintain. It also has a wide array of high-end features that mimic the features of robots that cost twice its cost. It is a great choice for those who are first-time buyers, upgrading from an entry-level model, and anyone looking to reduce time cleaning.

This robot is as in its element on floor surfaces that it is on carpet. Its suction power of 2,000Pa can take on carpets with heavy-duty. It can even clean pet hair in crevices and cracks on plain floors. It's built well, performs well and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands to allow hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than other models, but still enough to power the majority of homes.

The s7 is also able to be used as a mopping robot. It comes with a 200ml tank filled with water and mopping pads which can be easily connected to the robot's back. Add water and a microfiber towel, and the s7 starts mopping your floors. When the mopping process is completed the s7 will return to its dock and will shut down automatically.

The app that comes with it is simple to use, with a slick layout and plenty of features. You can draw a map of your home or set virtual boundaries the s7 cannot cross, set up 'no-go' zones, or tell it to clean one specific room. You can also look at its maintenance history, current status and monitor its performance.

5. Neato Q5 Pro

The Neato Q5 Pro is a multi-purpose robot vacuum that excels at cleaning bare floors. It also cleans up a good amount of dirt from both high and low-pile carpet. It is extremely solid, comes with a wide range of navigation options and is easy to maintain. However, it has a lower capacity battery than other units and incurs more recurring costs.

The Q5 is among the slowest-moving robots that we've tested, but it has a reliable layout algorithm that doesn't need the assistance of a babysitter after its first trip through a space. It begins by drawing the perimeter, and then fills in the interior using an array of parallel lines. When the task is completed, it returns to the charging station if it was not at the base.

It did a great job of cleaning hardwood floors and removing at least 88% dirt off each test. It was a bit less successful on low and high carpet however it did better than the standard unit. It also has mopping attachments to tackle wet spills, although we didn't test this feature.

Its maneuverability, which is higher than average for a lidar robot is the fact that it is able to bump into furniture or other obstacles with a gentle bump. Its navigation system is able to detect stairs and floors with multiple levels, which is a nice feature that lets it efficiently navigate multi-story homes. It also can recognize specific rooms when you choose them on the app. It also allows you to adjust the power level, set up no-go zones and view an interactive map of the current area of cleaning. The Q5 can be controlled via the mobile app, or voice commands from Alexa Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
