How a Jaguar Smart Key Works

Jaguar smart key is a convenient method of locking and unlocking your vehicle from an extended distance. Like all electronic devices, it is powered by a battery.

If your Smart Key battery is beginning to fail, your car may signal this by an increase in the range of its signals. The message center may also display an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY IS LOW".

Keyless Entry

With this feature, you will be able to access your Jaguar without having to search through your pockets or purse. The system utilizes proximity sensors to detect the Jaguar Smart Key fob, which triggers your XE's automatic opening. Pick any door handle and the vehicle will open and arm itself when you are approaching. When you exit your vehicle you can lock it by pressing a button on the door handle or by pressing the key fob.

The technology also allows you to utilize your Jaguar XE's Power Gesture Trunk Lid feature. This lets you open the trunk using a gesture, so you can carry groceries, luggage, lost or sporting equipment without having to reach into your purse or wallet for the key. Hold the Activity Key against your trunk when you are ready to close it. The hazard light will flash when it's successfully connected.

As opposed to other smart keys the Jaguar Smart Key's battery won't need replacement. You may notice that the range of your key fob is reducing and it will not respond to commands immediately. If this happens, it is recommended to replace the battery as soon as possible.

Panic Alarm

If your car's alarm goes off at the highest volume, you can easily turn it off using your Jaguar Smart Key. The panic button is a simple feature that can be useful in certain situations.

Press the Smart Key button with a headlamp symbol three times in three seconds to activate the panic mode. The system will turn on the headlamps on the vehicle for a period of 25 seconds. It will also activate the alarm five times to dissuade potential criminals. When you press the button again, it turns off the panic alarm.

You can also use the Jaguar Activity Key without the Smart Key inside to lock and unlock the vehicle. Simply slide the Activity Key onto your wrist, shut the doors, turn off your engine and hold the Activity Key against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. The vehicle will be secured and the danger lights in your vehicle will flash to indicate that it's secured.

If you notice that your Smart Key fob battery is running low, you will hear a sound warning and see the message "SMART KEY BATTERY LOW" in the center of your vehicle's display. If you have to replace the battery, take off the chrome cover on the key fob, and then slide out the CR2032 battery and replace it with a fresh one that is facing towards the upwards.

Security Enhanced

Jaguar's keyless entry feature is available on a variety of models, which eliminates the need for you to fiddle with your keys as you prepare to leave for your Irvine commute. The XE uses proximity sensors to detect your key fob as you enter the car, and it will unlock and disarm your security when you grab the door handle. A notification will be directly sent to your phone in the event that your vehicle has been altered. This will allow you to inform the police right away. This feature can help protect your Jaguar from theft, and is available on all E-PACE, F-PACE, and I-PACE vehicles.

Convenience

You can also activate your alarm from a distance that will be loud enough to scare off any possible thieves. You can also add the Activity Key to your smart key to avoid having to carry an additional key fob when you're on the trail or mountain biking.
