How to Replace a Kia Sportage Replacement Key

For many Kia models the key comes with the keyless entry system that is built into the key. The key is usually akin to the remote control and is able to be replaced with a brand new one from a Kia dealer or a locksmith.

Key fobs may stop working due to a variety of reasons, including the battery being dead, worn-out buttons signal interference or water damage. Here are some tips on how you can get your Kia Sportage replacement key to work again.

How do you replace a remote key or a smartkey?

The battery in your Kia's intelligent key will eventually need be replaced, whether it is a remote key, a push-to-start key or a normal metal key that doesn't have a transponder. This is particularly true if your car shows a message that states the remote or smart keys are in poor condition.

Luckily, it's an easy process. To replace the battery of the key fob take out the mechanical key from the hole in the back of the key fob. Next, remove the cover.
