1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is an excellent option for a wide range of households. It can be used to vacuum and mop, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of features and controls that are available via the app. It has a handy feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas you do not want it to go. As with all Roomba devices, it gets new software updates that make it even better over time.

It's costly however, it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has evaluated. It's equipped with a powerful battery that can vacuum an entire home in less than two hours, and it can switch between mopping and vacuuming by pressing one button. It has a wide range of other features that make it a good option for most homes, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses both a camera and processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. It's not as precise at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Eufy is owned by Anker, has become an iconic name in the world of budget robot vacuums. However, it didn't offer a model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of features that are advanced and can compete with much more expensive models.

The laser navigation system is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to construct an accurate picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to effortlessly sling debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. The X8's tyres, despite their circular shape, are good in grabbing corners and edges. Our tests showed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming. While this is a good option for spills that are not too large, you can't control how much water it uses which can limit its effectiveness for more serious stains. It does a good job of removing pet hair. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, stunning design and great navigation. However, it has a few operational oddities that keep it from ranking as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot and models, the RX2 has dual-sensor mapping technology which uses a LIDAR sensor to map out the space and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room is identified it is possible to designate virtual no-go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also start a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, watch a live feed from the cameras onboard and more on the main screen.

The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. Its sweeping and suction powers are excellent, taking away surface debris from carpets of medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. Like many others it's not a very good climber and has trouble with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that feels and looks appealing in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible for emptying, and removing the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

It also suggests cleaning the dustbin regularly by replacing the filters and changing or washing the brushes as required.

6. IRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's costly, but it's the best robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than most competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. It's a powerful bissell robot vacuum and mop vacuum, even if the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 spins when it is pushed over cables.

One thing we really like about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It then uses the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt on carpets and hard floors, as well as a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin.
