Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's useful remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle and start the engine, and even find it using an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that opens it, place a coin between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.

Locking the Door

Volvo's remote key fobs will unlock the tailgate, doors, and fuel filler flap of your vehicle with a touch of a button. They also can turn on the ignition, trigger the alarm, and operate the sunroof if it's fitted. With these options you'll never look for your keys again or even lock yourself out of your car again.

If you're using a brand-new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, then you may be unfamiliar with some of its key fob's hidden features. You can make use of the manual lock/unlock feature if your key fob battery is not working.

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button to unlock your key fob, place it with the Volvo logo side up. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover that is a cover for the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise with a flathead or coin.

Start the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an ease of use and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, as with any battery-powered electronic device key fobs may lose its charge, or cease working after a certain period of time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace its battery.

You can enable this feature by using the key fob if your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature that it was set to when it was parked, and last for up to 15 minutes.

Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. A button should be placed underneath the cover on an angle that is near the body's edge. Take it off by sliding it downwards and then to the right. The cover will then fall free and slide away and reveal the manual key blade inside! If you're not able to locate the button, search the now-revealed manual key access for a hidden lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

Switching off the Alarm

Place your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface.
