The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation capabilities however it doesn't have no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient however it can be caught on rug tassels.

During our tests, we observed that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to eliminate a large amount of debris on bare floors and a good amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective with shag carpets. It struggled to get at dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering around chair legs, tight spaces, and the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. We did notice that it was a little slower on bare floors however it soon recovered speed and performed better than other robots we tested.

The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan and is more adept at navigating obstacles. It also has a mopping attachment that can tackle sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can even resume a cleaning session from the point it started if it has run out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can be controlled by voice, which is a huge plus for many users.
