1. iRobot S8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is an excellent option for a wide range of households. It is able to vacuum and mop well and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of features and controls that are accessible via the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention and Keep Out zones where you do not want it to move. It also gets software updates, like the other Roomba products, that make it better over time.

It's expensive, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours, and it can switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of a button. And unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically emptys into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It has a wide range of other features that make it a great choice for homes with a lot of space, including intelligent obstacle avoidance, which uses the camera as well as processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best at avoiding objects like power cables. However, it's not as reliable at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While the Anker-owned Eufy has made an impact in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of advanced features, and can compete with much more expensive models.

The laser navigation system is the primary selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It also takes a lot less time to construct a comprehensive picture of your living space and also stores multiple maps, [Redirect Only] which is ideal for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges, even though they're circular. It's not the best cat litter picker, though our tests have shown it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is good for spills that are not too large however, you aren't able to regulate the amount of water it is using which can limit its effectiveness when dealing with more serious staining. That said, it does an excellent job of removing pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, stunning design, and a great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation that keep it from being named the best Robot vacuum that Mops smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot, the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system which uses a LIDAR sensor to map out an area and two 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room has been mapped, you can designate virtual no-go areas and preferred sections to the deebot robot vacuum. You can also manually change cleaning options, begin cleaning manually, or view live feeds from the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. The suction and sweeping capabilities are outstanding, effectively getting rid of surface litter from carpets with medium pile as well as dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the most powerful robot available. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips.

The robot is easy to install and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does include a remote control which lets you select between various modes and adjust the suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off on a scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, the 11S was extremely effective in cleaning pet hair and dirt from hard floors and carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to fit under furniture with low hanging and other objects that larger robots are unable to reach. It was able to get easily over thresholds of doors and switch between floors of different types to another.

Like other robots, the 11S can take in some objects, such as cords hoodie drawstrings, and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can prevent this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using an organizer for cords if you can. It also suggests that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters and change or wash the brushes as necessary.

6. IRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's costly but it's top-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigation as well as environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than its competitors, such as the capability to set up virtual boundary markers through its mobile app. Although the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 can spin a bit when crossing cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum.

The floor tracking sensor helps it navigate between furniture, along edges and on stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will automatically return to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharging between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as impressive as other robot vacuums, it's a reliable and solid machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
