BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The ghost 2 immobiliser installation utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from putting in keys or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system since it requires a correct PIN code to start the engine.

Unlike other immobilisers The Ghost is different from other immobilisers. Ghost does not use LED indicators or key-fobs. Instead it uses the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to select a unique disarm sequence that only you are aware of.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a new BMW or used the stop-start feature, you may have noticed that once stopped the engine will still run for about 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for an ignition key, and once this is found it will keep running. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car every time you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to your BMW's CAN network and is programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code which is accessible via buttons that are installed in your car. This allows you to enter the key sequences which aren't accessible in normal menus for media. For instance volume up/down, source air conditioning, cruise control, etc. The PIN could be between 4 and 20 numbers and is therefore difficult for thieves to guess or break.

In addition, we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system. This is activated when your vehicle is in for servicing to ensure that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment device (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the leading immobiliser on the market. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. It makes use of the factory buttons on your vehicle to generate an unique push sequence that only you can identify. This is similar to pin code security for your mobile phone. It's incredibly discreet and quiet, not to mention deterring even the most determined thieves from ever trying!

If you are parked at home or in a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start the vehicle with your keys but prevents the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for customers who need to hand their vehicles over to valet companies or other trusted friends and family members. This lets you bring your vehicle to the garage for servicing and maintenance, etc. without having to worry about it being modified by mechanics while you are waiting.

Once the service / valet mode is enabled, it will stop your BMW from being driven once started, this prevents anyone from attempting to test drive it whilst you are away. Once you return, the car will revert to normal and prevent it from being damaged or stolen.

We can mount the Ghost to any BMW All you need is the correct keys since the device doesn't use the original remotes and can be used with them. If you don't want to use a mobile device or are not at ease with it, we offer an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an additional cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly advanced, the security technology is continuing to evolve, this is why Ghost has created this discrete and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before your engine can begin.

Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. If the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it fails to find the correct code it will also stop the engine (where it is). By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without having to enter PIN.

If you have an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it can be used to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system inside your car whilst the vehicle is parked unattended. If you own a smartphone, you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

This is an Tassa approved product that is recognized by a majority of insurance companies. It will also help reduce the chance of your treasured possessions being stolen. It is completely invisible and won't interfere with the operation of your vehicle. It does not require any programming expertise to install or use. It is totally undetectable by tools for detecting that thieves use and it is totally unaffected by key cloning since it connects directly to your vehicle's CAN data network.

Remote Control

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This can be useful when a valet or mechanic has to start your car but you are and not in the vicinity. The system allows you to turn your vehicle on by selecting drive and then exit service mode without needing keys. You can also see your vehicle in real time on a map using your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car whilst on the move.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard, or in the centre console. It is completely concealed, tamperproof, and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is programmed into it. This pin code has to be entered prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU in order to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into service mode and stop all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was created to protect you vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who utilize relay boxes to steal it. This will prevent thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or mp3 players to locate your vehicle!

Ghost can also prevent the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most common method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob which has been duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is installed in the key fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a couple of inactive minutes. This is possible with the majority of modern PKE keys.
