What makes the Roomba 980 stand out from other high-end models Its main feature is the incorporation of the latest dirt detection feature that uses cameras to identify particles of dirt embedded. This is a significant improvement over the previous version which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around a room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on both hard flooring and carpets. Its score on the low pile carpet was very good and it got a very good score on mid pile too. It did a great job picking up pet hair but had a difficult time with the long and thick pet hair that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the most efficient robots in our list despite the slight limitations. It's also not as expensive as top-of-the-line models. It still has a lot of features we'd expect to find in a flagship model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps or smart home integration that you might find in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba is simple to set up and get running right away. After you have removed the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from its undercarriage, all that you need to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or an outlet on the wall, press its big "Clean" button and let it get to work. It will return to the dock when it has run out of batteries or automatic vacuum and mop robot is full of trash. There are also indicator lights on top that show when the bin is empty, or when it requires recharging, or if it loses Wi-Fi.
