Additionally it has a strong battery that can clean up to two hours and it automatically returns to its dock when its bin is full.

It also has a feature called smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to help determine the areas of your home that require attention and then create a clean path around them. This technology is extremely effective in navigating around toys left on the floor or furniture legs sticking out under things. It also has a sensor that snaps Roomba back to reality when it begins to drift away from its original position.

iRobot has also added a new set of rollers beneath the bottom of the Roomba that do not have bristles, and thus tend to resist tangles better than previous models. They are also taller and can fit under beds or couches that are low. They're designed to make this model more maneuverable on different flooring types.

Despite these slight limitations, the Roomba 980 remains one of our best-performing robots, and it's even nearly as expensive as the other top models on this list. It's got plenty of features that we'd like to find in a flagship model however it lacks all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration you might find in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is available for use as soon as you are ready to. After taking off the yellow bin insert and pull tab from its undercarriage it is simply connected to a wall socket or its Home Base docking stations, hit the "Clean button" and let it do its work. It will return to its dock when it has run out of battery or becomes full of debris. There are also indicator lights at the top of the bin that let you know when the bin is empty, mini or when it is in need of recharging or if it loses Wi-Fi.
