What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob

You've lost your Nissan keyfob or stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, look back and check where you last saw it.

It's not that difficult to replace the battery on your Nissan key fob. It can be a bit daunting at first, but you'll get the grasp of it quickly.

Smart Keys

The key fob that was included with the key fob that came with your Nissan is an important component of the car's advanced keyless entry system. For instance you can adjust the seat and mirrors to ensure maximum comfort. You can even manage the music via your smartphone, ensuring that you'll never have to leave your vehicle.

Intelligent Key Fobs include an antenna in them that transmits an alert to your vehicle whenever you touch a button or move towards it. Once the vehicle receives the signal, the system is activated opening and locking doors, starting the engine, or opening the trunk. If you want to test out the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle and click the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.

To do this, first take the key hidden in your key fob, then open the battery compartment. Replace the old battery with a new one after you have removed the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the previous one. Finally shut the battery compartment and return the key to its hidden location inside the case.

Remote Start

Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to cool or warm their vehicle from outside the vehicle, provided they are within the operating range. Lockout Protection

Lockout protection prevents nuisance lockouts caused by the impedance relay failing. A special module in power control unit monitors impedance relay activity, and shuts off the output. This feature is available on vehicles with the Smart Key system, or by using the vehicle personalization menu.

Many serious accidents have occurred due to the machine was running when it was supposed to shut off for maintenance or repairs. These accidents are usually the result of the energy being not released correctly. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO), which ensures that machines remain off until a designated individual releases them, helps to prevent these types of accidents.

The LOTO system consists of a series of locks tags, locks, and other equipment that are used to secure, isolate or block the machine from electrical sources. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel must be trained on the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but are not limited to locks, chains padslocks, wedges adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is uniquely identified and labeled with the date and the time of application, the name of the authorized individual and the reason for the lockout/tag-out (repair, maintenance, etc). It is essential to clearly state that the devices cannot be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
