After a string of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unknown artist It is made up of an advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.

Each of the five Space lambo keys will feature a distinct moment that occurs only seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. More than 600 million pixels make up each of the five images which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera equipped with an lens to take individual images, which were then put together into the final image. The result is an out of this world photograph that captures both the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car rising away from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there isn't a specific date or place yet.

The auction
