Anti-Hijack

With high-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated the security technology is continuing to improve, which is why Ghost has created this discrete and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from acquiring a new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and then drive away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an unique push-sequence which must be entered before your engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack feature and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be stopped. Once the system detects that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it is not able to find the correct code it will also stop the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your car to temporarily start and drive without needing to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to turn off the Anti-Hijack feature so you can still use the navigation system in your car even when the vehicle is parked not being watched. If you own a smart-phone, you can also connect it up to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

The system will allow you to turn the vehicle on and off, then select drive and quit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on the map in real-time using your smartphone.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard, or in the center console. It is completely concealed and tamper-proof. It doesn't require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code needs to be entered before the vehicle starts. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to bypass this system.

If your vehicle is taken away, the ghost immobiliser installer will enter service mode and stop all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disable it. This feature was developed to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your car. It also stops thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost also blocks 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most frequent way a car is being stolen using a key fob that has been cloned or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle called Secure-A-Key.
