Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the brand. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying 'B' paperweight, a set of keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

As a design-centric company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather made from by-products of cattle as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, 100 years after the marque was established. The marque, now owned by Volkswagen independently following years of dispute with BMW and Volkswagen, had planned a series of special events and launches to commemorate this historic occasion. Design

Bentley is known as a premium car manufacturer who makes ostentatious and luxurious cars. However, even the keys are a statement. The Bentayga Key is constructed of sterling silver and features a large B' symbol to let everyone know that you're driving a Bentley. Function

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather. It takes over two days to craft each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed after which it is sealed and polished to create a high-end result. It is small and sturdy and matches the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is akin to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however it feels heavier and has a more premium feel.

Secure-A-Key is also available to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote-control key fob, and stops it after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's unique design is a reflection of the values of the company which include exquisite craftsmanship, engineering expertise and the latest technologies. Its headquarters in Crewe are home to more than 4,000 workers who are responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley vehicles. Personalisation

Bentley Continental Key Programming (Lolipop-Pandahouse.Ssl-Lolipop.Jp)'s bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. The guests sit at a collection of images referred to as "mood stations" and pick a set of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that will inspire them to design their own. Each time a selection is made the pattern that emerges reveals the model, color and style preferences for the bespoke Bentley.

The guests receive an individual key case created by hand, which contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys can be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the path of the opening door with the owner's logo or name as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it requires 500 man-hours to build and build the Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace modern technology is the primary factor to this time-consuming task. The Crewe factory workers don't utilize a machine for arranging perfectly matched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. Drivers have to park their cars manually, not using sensors built-in to guide them into perpendicular and paralell spots.

Edition pays tribute to the founding father of the brand, William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars are available in 100. an exclusive key that shows a portion of the 1930 8 Litre's crankshaft.
