1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is an excellent choice for many homes. It vacuums and mops well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and offers a broad range of features and controls available via the app. It comes with a useful feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, and also to create Keep Out zones in areas where you do not want it to go. Like all Roomba devices, it is updated with new software updates that make it better over time.

It's expensive, but it's is also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It has a powerful battery that can clean all of your home in less than two hours. It also switches between mopping and vacuuming with the touch of one button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the bin after each run, it automatically emptys itself into an even larger waste container on top of its charging dock.

It comes with a variety of other features that make it a good option for most homes with its intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses the camera as well as processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It isn't often entangled or trapped during a cleaning cycle, and it's the best at avoiding power cables as well as other objects in my tests. It is not as accurate at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Although Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of advanced features, and can compete with much more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of laser mapping technology that is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is perfect for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to effortlessly sling debris through the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. The tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges, even though they're circular. It's not the best cat litter picker, though as our tests show it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's a mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is great for spills that aren't too dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water that it uses. However, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Awarded for its quiet and efficient home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum comes with outstanding cleaning power, stunning design and great navigation. But it has some operational issues which prevent it from being considered as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique that uses a LIDAR to map the space, and a pair 3D scanning cameras for detecting and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped the app allows you to assign virtual no-go areas and areas that you want to clean. will clean automatically. You can also alter the cleaning modes, initiate a manual clean, or view a live feed of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The sensors of the RX2 work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. Its sweeping and suction power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust on floors with no floor. But it's not the most efficient ilife Robot Vacuum available. It's not the greatest climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

Its smart mapping system generates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses those to avoid obstacles and navigate. It's even able to spot common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real time. This combination of sensors along with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from steps make it one of the fastest vacs we've tried.

In our tests, it easily could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive as its score for composite tests on carpet and bare floors topped the competition. It picked up 98.5 percent of surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

Its controls are a bit simpler than the competition; there's an uniform cleaning button on the top, and you can start it from the app or by voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones, and look up its history of cleaning. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. Its rear dust bin is accessible for emptying and cleaning the filter is just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and doesn't have any frills at a cost that is low. It isn't equipped with some of the advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are available in higher-end models but if you're not looking for these features, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.

The robot is simple to use and set up. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with the remote control that allows you to choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and pet fur from carpets with low pile and hard floors. Its slim profile allowed it to reach under furniture and other low objects that more bulkier robots were unable to reach. It was also able to easily pass over doorway thresholds and move between floors and another.

Like other robots, the 11S will take in some objects, such as cords drawstrings for hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these objects off the ground and by using a cord organizer when you can. It also suggests cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis replacing the filters, and changing or washing the brushes as needed.

6. iRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the most powerful robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than most competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary lines with its mobile app. While its application is a bit slow and the 980 can spin out a bit while crossing cables, ilife robot Vacuum it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will use this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a cleaner vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.

The 980's other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from carpets and hard floors and an ejector brush that moves debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate across furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It also automatically returns to its base station for easy recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery life and bin size isn't as efficient as other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours at a time.
