Easy to install

Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to freshen your car keys. You can choose from a wide range of styles and colors to find the one that best suits your personal style. Installing them yourself is within ten minutes. You will need a screwdriver as well as some patience. The first step is to remove the previous cover from your key. This has to be removed before the new cover can be fitted.

After removing the cover, you can employ a flathead to remove the four major attachment clips off the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked in red on the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots that are highlighted in yellow. They need to be disconnected as well.

Replace the old battery with a CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should face the opening on the fob and the "side that is "-" side should face the rubber buttons.

Attach the cover for the passenger side mirror by aligning locating tabs. Once you have completed this, put the fob on the driver's side in your car and test it by pressing the push button on the front of the car key. If everything is working properly the parking lights will be turned on and the doors should automatically shut.

Easy to remove

It is as easy as pressing the red "Fiat" button on the front of your key fob. After removing the metal key, you'll see a small silver round switch with images of an unlocked and locked padlock next to it. This is the battery switch for the key fob. The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch for a quarter turn using a small screwdriver with a flathead.

The key fob contains an embedded microchip that communicates with the Body Control Module. When you insert the key into your Fiat, it depresses the ignition switch, which functions as a "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM can then read the transponder that is on the key fob to verify the validity of the key.
