BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system since it requires a correct PIN code to begin the engine.

In contrast to other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LED indicators or key-fobs. Instead it uses your vehicle's existing buttons to allow you to enter a unique disarm sequence that you only know.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a brand new BMW or used the stop-start feature, you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for an ignition key, and when it is detected, it will keep running. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that can stop this by stopping the vehicle every time you hit a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, does not require you to cut OEM wires or install key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code that is accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter key sequences that aren't available in the normal media menus. For instance, volume up/down or source, air conditioning, cruise control, etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 numbers which makes it extremely difficult for thieves to figure out or crack.

In addition, we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when the car is being serviced so that the Ghost is not visible to the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically re-arm when you return.

With luxury vehicles being more prone to being targeted than ever before, we strongly recommend the Ghost immobiliser to be installed. It is completely unnoticeable and doesn't require cutting any wiring from the factory and will disable your car's engine if an incorrect pin code is entered. Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the leading immobiliser on the market. It protects your vehicle from being taken through key cloning or hacking. It uses the factory buttons on your vehicle to generate an individual sequence of pushes that only you can identify. This is similar to the pin code security of your mobile phone. Its discreet and incredibly effective in stopping even the most zealous thieves from ever trying!

If you're parked at your home or in a meeting and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This lets you start the vehicle using your keys but prevents the engine from restarting until the correct code has been entered. This is ideal for customers who must transfer their vehicles to valet service companies, or trusted family members and friends. This lets you take your car to the garage for servicing, etc. without having to worry that it will be tampered with by mechanics while you wait.

Once the service / valet mode is activated, it will stop your BMW from being able to drive once started, this prevents anyone from testing it whilst you are away. When you return, the car will be restored to normal operation and will not be damaged or stolen.

We can mount the Ghost to any BMW all you require is the correct keys since the device does not use the original remotes, and can be used alongside them. We are TASSA registered, DBS-security screened and fully trained in system installation. If you don't want to use a smartphone, or aren't comfortable with it, we can provide an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With high-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated, the security technology is continuing to change, that's why Ghost has created this discrete and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from using a key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before your engine can be started.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will honk the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stop the vehicle if the code is not found. By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without entering PIN.

If you own an GPS device that is connected to your BMW, you can utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system while the vehicle is stationary. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app to allow remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This is useful when a valet or mechanic has to start your car and you have to be somewhere and not in the vicinity. The system allows you to turn the vehicle on and off, then select drive and exit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle's location in real-time on a map using your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car whilst in motion.

The Ghost can be placed under the dashboard or in the center console. It is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is inserted into it. The pin code needs to be selected before the engine starts. This stops thieves from gaining access to the system with the cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a service mode and shut down all functions unless a PIN code is entered, or you can make use of the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was created to protect you vehicle from thieves with high-tech equipment who use relay boxes to take it. This will stop thieves from using mobile phones to turn on your sat-navs or mp3 players to track your vehicle!

Ghost also blocks the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most frequent way a car is being stolen using a key fob that has been copied or stolen through hacking. Ghost can help you prevent this theft by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device installs inside the key-fob in your vehicle and disconnects the battery after a short period of inactivity. This can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
