Sir has cancelled his tour after testing positive for again - just three days after revealing he had tested negative and was getting back on the road.

The icon, 82, took to on Thursday to share a selfie, captioned: 'I'm sure you'll be as surprised as I was I tested positive again for Covid the rest of the tour is off I send you peace and love Ringo.'

The announcement comes just three days after the singer revealed he had restarted his tour after testing negative for COVID-19 -  after being forced to cancel gigs when he contracted the virus.

The positive test means the hitmaker will pull out of shows in San Jose, California on October 14, Paso Robles on October 15, Los Angeles on October 16, and two dates in Mexico City on October 19 and 20.

This comes days after the musician took to Instagram wearing his negative test as a badge of honour, while thanking fans for their patience. 

He threw one hand up in a peace sign while using the other to open his jacket and expose the home testing kit he was wearing round his neck. 

Sir Ringo captioned the snap: 'On the road again I will see you in Seattle on Tuesday the 11th Portland Wednesday I am negative peace and love everybody thanks for waiting.

Ringo. ✌️❤️✈️☮️.'

It comes a week after Ringo and his All-Starr band were forced to cancel further shows in  while he battled the virus.

They pulled out of performances at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, , and Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, , citing illness.

A statement said: 'Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible and is recovering at home.

As always, he and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans, and hope to see them back out on the road soon.'

The five Canadian shows cancelled included Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Lethbridge, as well as arenas in Abbotsford and Penticton.

It was confirmed at the time that Sir Ringo's tour would remain on hold while he recovers.

The legend pulled out of a gig at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo just hours before taking to the stage. 

The band's spokesperson previously said Ringo did not have .

One of the concertgoers told TMZ that he went to the Four Winds Casino management and pressed them as to why the show was a no-go, and was told Sir Ringo was ill but would not go further.

The nine-time Grammy winner and his All Starr Band concluded the first leg of their Spring Tour 2022 on June 26 in Clearwater, Florida.

The tour - postponed from 2020 due to the pandemic - resumed on September 23 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was set to end on October 20 in Mexico City.

In July, Sir Ringo celebrated his 82nd birthday by hosting his annual Peace and Love party in Beverly Hills, California.

Sir Ringo's birthday bash came just weeks after he made history as the first member of The Beatles to auction off a collection of NFT digital artwork.

The sum of $1,000 was the starting bid for all five of the Englishman's pieces - Galaxy One, Galaxy Two, Bandana Man, Starr Art, and Crash - which include short animated videos featuring his drumming.

'I only ever wanted to be a drummer yet you never know where a new idea or path will lead you,' Sir Ringo (born Richard Starkey) said in a statement.

'This new technology is so far out it's inspired me and I loved creating these NFTs combining my art and my music.

Who'd have thought I would be spreading peace and love in the metaverse.' 

A portion of proceeds benefited The Lotus Foundation, an organisation aimed at advancing social welfare in areas like substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumours, cancer, battered woman and their children, homelessness, and needy animals.
